Homecoming

I was totally surprised that he was going to go to the homecoming dance.  Well..maybe not totally.  he's social so I was glad he went.  We bought him new dress pants and dress shoes.  I wasn't allowed to take any pictures.  He said he danced and had a great time.  There were about 500 kids there.  I thought it was great that so many freshmen went.  I think they really like the school and are eager to be a part of it.  One of my seniors said there were TOO MANY freshmen there.   Hahahaha.

Cruisin' Right Along!

He is doing a good job getting his grades up and trying to keep up on things.  He has a lot of support during the day and it seems to be getting better.  He actually did his own homework a few nights in a row.  Yay for me!!!!  Homecoming is this Saturday and he is he going to the dance.  Cool!

Progress Report Time!

It's been a juggling act to keep tabs on him academically.  Mix this with all the other kids I am keeping track of during the day.  I think he is doing ok but still needs a  lot of support keeping on top of his work.  He loves football and plays a little.  He loves seeing his friends and is generally happy.

All I could ask for.

Almost the end of September

Well..the quizzes and tests have started and they are not off to a great start.  We are working every night  but he is learning how to study in the process.  I thought today would be a very hard day, but he managed to do ok.  I didn't see him at the office so that's good news.  hahaha.   He came home today and sat right down to work on his homework.  He's not a reader so the more I can get him to talk and hear things, the better.  I am definitely not running interference with his teachers.  The mom in me would LOVE to, but the teacher in me knows better.

Three weeks in!

So far, so good!  We are getting out at a decent time in the morning.  He has his routine in the afternoon.  After school he drops by my room to drop his stuff off before football.  I double check what he has for homework and makes sure that he has everything before we leave.  After practice, we eat and then we sit down and finish any homework together.  My son spent a lot of time in alternative schools so being in all regular ed classes in 9th grade is a jump for him.  This time together has really kept him organized.  I am tired, but for all the right reasons.

Could be this.
