Well..the quizzes and tests have started and they are not off to a great start. We are working every night but he is learning how to study in the process. I thought today would be a very hard day, but he managed to do ok. I didn't see him at the office so that's good news. hahaha. He came home today and sat right down to work on his homework. He's not a reader so the more I can get him to talk and hear things, the better. I am definitely not running interference with his teachers. The mom in me would LOVE to, but the teacher in me knows better.

Three weeks in!
So far, so good! We are getting out at a decent time in the morning. He has his routine in the afternoon. After school he drops by my room to drop his stuff off before football. I double check what he has for homework and makes sure that he has everything before we leave. After practice, we eat and then we sit down and finish any homework together. My son spent a lot of time in alternative schools so being in all regular ed classes in 9th grade is a jump for him. This time together has really kept him organized. I am tired, but for all the right reasons.

Day 1
My son and I drove together to school on the first day. That hadn't happened since I used to drop him off at day care. It was actually pretty cool. We got him settled and off he went. The most bizarre thing was that I was standing in the hallway between classes and someone walked by me and said, "Hi Mrs. Relleva!" I looked over to give a big hello and saw my son smiling as he passed me. It took me aback a little. I had to chuckle. It was great to see him smiling as he was going through his day.
